With the unceasing improvement in the curriculum reform, the development of schoolcurriculum has become a new bright spot in the fundamental education curriculum reformof our country. When the development of school curriculum is to be promoted to someextent, as a result, related school textbook which is the materialized form of schoolcurriculum will appear. It has drawn more and more attention by school to take advantageof the local cuItural resources for the development of school curriculum and to compileand use suitable school textbook.This article tried to do research work in the development of Wu culture basedchemistry school textbook. In order to achieve this purpose, the author reviewed thehistory of the development of school curriculum at home and abroad, combined her workclosely with the practice of senior high school chemistry teaching reform, utilized the localcultural resources as the background and the objective need of students’ personaldevelopment as the fundamental starting point. The research work can be listed detailedlyas follows: firstly, through conducting the survey of teachers and students in Suzhou no.1high school, the author evaluated the environment and then decided the direction for thedevelopment of the textbook; secondly, the author familiarize herself with and conductedstudy on the theories about the connotations, the rules, the manners and so on for thedevelopment of the school textbook; thirdly, the author elaborated on the connotation ofWu culture and the importance of making use of Wu cuItural resource for the thedevelopment of the school textbook. On the basis of the above, the author sorted out theWu cuItural resource associated tightly with the contents of senior high school chemistrytextbook and thoroughly analysed it, thereafter set the goal of school textbook, engaged incompiling the textbook by adopting the appropriate contents from the Wu cuItural resource;fourthly, the author tried to use this textbook in many occasions such as class teaching andteaching plan presenting, giving opportunities to the experts, the teachers and the studentstaking part in the activities to evaluate the textbook from many aspects and propose their rational suggestions about the textbook amendment, based on this, the textbook has beenmodified many times and finalize a manuscript; lastly, some thoughts inspired during theresearch process for the development of school curriculum were also given in this articleby the author.
