"Reading appreciation" is one of the feature columns of Jiangsu version of Chinesetextbooks for junior middle school. Based on literature review, case study and text analysis,detailed analysis on the profile in teaching "reading appreciation" in junior middle school,from which its description of the module and compiling principles is generated, its positionand role is explored, its dilemma in classroom teaching is accounted, and special attentionare paid to the reason behind it: the ignorance to the module in classroom teaching andunsatisfactory design. On this basis, the feasibility of the integration of "readingappreciation" and "reading instruction" is explored and teachers’ van reading is theeffective application of the principle of “learning facilitated through reading” in “readingappreciation”. Students’ competence in appreciation can only be enhanced throughindependent exploration. The chapter three, which is the central part of the thesis, exploresthe effective teaching strategies to “reading appreciation”: taking "reading appreciation" asextended text, using it as the review of the text. Finally, rational consideration on teachingactivities in “reading appreciation” and practical suggestions are put forward to counter thediscontented situation in its design.
