As the great development of science and technology, people’s work and life has been changing rapidly, the traditional education is facing new challenges under such background. Tasks which can be fulfilled in the past by personal efforts are impossible to fulfill nowadays. Nearly all of the innovation is completed by teamwork. The ability of cooperation has become an important quality in people’s life. But nowadays, most of the children are from family of only-one child, so it’s particularly important for primary school students to develop their cooperation skills.The aim of this thesis is to find out the teaching models and the methods of evaluation about cooperative learning in English class of primary school. This paper, by offering plenty of data in English teaching, specific teaching cases and fragment of teaching case,not only proves the feasibility of carrying out teamwork in English classes of primary school, but also shows the great benefit of teamwork in the development of the students’attitude, interest. as well as in the training of cooperation skills of primary school students. The thesis uses the method of theoretical analysis and empirical research to ensure the feasibility and effectiveness. Firstly, this paper analyses the research background and the requirements of the "new curriculum standards", and then it lists the meaning of cooperative learning, theoretical basis and principles of the cooperative learning in primary English class, all of them ensures the theoretical basis of this research. This thesis clarifies the specific strategies of cooperative learning. It’s the result of a half year’s experiment and verification on the students in Class One Grade Four of Ordos Kang Bashi No.4Primary School, it proves that the group cooperative learning in English teaching of primary school can not only improve the students’learning performance, but also can improve the students’cooperation skills. The analysis of specific data and the results of questionnaire show that, compared with the traditional teaching, group cooperative learning is more suitable in improving students’achievement and their work skills in a large area.The research need to be enriched later. It’s just a beginning, hope that it can become a starting point which can help me in becoming a research-oriented and professional teacher.
