Teaching in class is the main form of school education as well as the unity of teachers’ teachingactivities and students’ learning activities. As a result, teaching behaviors in class not only affect the effectof teaching in class, but restrict the pace and depth of the new curriculum reform and will ultimately affectthe degree and speed of students’ development. As a connecting link between primary education and highereducation, senior high school stage has a special status and significance. Besides, English is aninternational language. The two reasons make the study on teaching behaviors in English class of seniorhigh school necessary and important.In this paper, teaching behaviors in English class of senior high school refer to the sum of a series ofinteractional actions, acted by teachers and students for a certain teaching purpose in English class ofsenior high school. It mainly includes preparatory teaching behaviors, implementary teaching behaviorsand evaluating teaching behaviors.This paper introduces the study background in four aspects which are the inherent requirement of newcurriculum reform, the surest way to improve the teaching, the reality demand of senior high school andindividual study interests and strengths, reviews literatures on teaching behaviors at home and abroad,clarifies the purpose and significance of this study, formats the corresponding study ideas and methods,clarifies the related concepts of the study, and then constructs the system of the theoretical basis of thisstudy by using of curriculum and teaching theory, constructivism, complex adaptive system theory.Combining with the views of knowledge, teacher, student, teaching, learning, evaluation in newcurriculum, this paper discusses essential requirement of teaching behaviors in English class of senior highschool. It also carries on studies by means of questionnaires, observation scale and teacher interviewoutline. The result of studies is that,while the current teaching behaviors in English class of senior highschool fit with new curriculum reform to a certain extent, there are some problems that cannot be ignored,which are the teaching goal design is not reasonable, curriculum resources consciousness is to be improved,the teaching methods are to be improved, questions and discussion need to be optimized, practice is to bestrengthened, reflection and evaluation are to be improved.Based on the current teaching behaviors problems in English class of senior high school, this paper tries to present some improvement strategies from the points of education department and school, teacher andstudent. Education departments and schools should create favorable conditions to improve the classroomteaching behavior; Teachers should actively change ideas and strive to improve teaching behaviors in class;Students should change learning style and improve the ability of autonomous learning.
