Science and technology is developed rapidly in the 21st century, the knowledge economy comes with higher speed, and the international competition is becoming fiercer. Need to be good at tackling new-type talents of international competition in the new century, the society puts forward the new demand for talents, the educate proposing the new challenge at the same time, the question that the education on history faces is especially severe. When the turn of century, the middle school historical curriculum reform becomes one of the focal points in a new round of basic education curriculum reform of China. This text is based on the national historical curriculum standards of China and U.S.A. This study compares the situations and reform measures of the middle school history curriculum between America and China. By contrast, it discovers our advantages and shortages in the middle school history curriculum as well as America. And propose some improvement suggestions on deficiency and defect studying historical course to exist in our country. The study is expected to promote the middle school history curriculum reform in our country. The study makes comparison mainly through the following three aspects about the middle school history curriculum between China and America: Part one: The comparison of the middle school history curriculum objectives. Make an introduction and comparison about the middle school historical curriculum objectives of China and America. Organize discussion from knowledge mastering, ability training and value education. Part two: The comparison of the middle school history curriculum content. On the basis of recommending, analyzing content standard while studying the historical curriculum standard in China and the United States, comparing mainly for two country in of study by course choice and course value orientation of content. Part three: The comparison of the middle school history curriculum building. Make discussions mainly from Separated curriculum and Integrated curriculum; Obligatory course and Selective course; Linear curriculum and Spiral curriculum.
