The Historical Review, Current Situation Of And Strategy For College Students’ Ideological And Political Education Work

College students, as precious human resources, are the hope of the nation, the future ofour motherland, and the builders of and successors to the cause of socialism with Chinesecharacteristics, whose quality will directly influence the realization of China’s grand goal ofcomprehensively constructing a well-off society and accelerating the socialist modernization.Ideological and political education of college students is a basic way to help them improveself-quality, achieve all-round development and become a qualified person, and an importantconstituent part of higher education in our country. Over the past60years, China’s ideologicaland political education has always been adhered to the advanced educational concept,constantly enriching educational content, innovating educational methods, improvingeducational system under the leadership of the party and the state, thus playing an enormouslyhelpful role in establishing the values of college students which meet the requirements ofsocialist modernization construction. Furthermore, it also enables college students to show offtheir talents in later working positions, and meanwhile reveals a strong vitality of China’ssocialist modernization construction.However, the present ideological and political education of college students cannot adoptto the needs of the current social development and keep up with the pace of times along withthe continuous development and progress of the society, therefore some problems are exposed:firstly, weak effectiveness and pertinence of ideological and political education; secondly,unclear awareness of the negative effects of cultural diversity; thirdly, poor environment ofideological and political education in colleges and universities; and fourthly, teamconstruction of ideological and political education work needing to be strengthened.As for the causes of the above problems, they can be summarized as follows.Firstly, there is a lack of flexibility of educational ways and methods; secondly, the educational carrier is relatively monotonous; thirdly, it fails to carry out ideological and political education of college students according to their unique characteristics; and fourthly, there is also a lack of integrated planning of team construction of ideological and political education.Aiming at the problems existing in ideological and political education of college students,it is a must to explore strategies to strengthen and improve the educational work. The present thesis discusses about this issue from the following five aspects: Firstly, to carry outideological and political education of college students according to their uniquecharacteristics; secondly, to give play to the leading role of educators; thirdly, to stimulateeducates’ awareness of dominant position; fourthly, to optimize the environment ofideological and political education of college students, and finally, to improve thecomprehensive quality of ideological and political education workers.
