The counselor group is not only the backbone strength of Chinese university tolaunch their ideological and political education, but also playing the critical role oforganizer, executer, and mentor while conducting the ideological and politicaleducation and managing undergraduates on a daily basis. Additionally, there is alsoreflecting that the counselors are the most suitable and vital soul mate for the majorityof university students to keep a healthy and positive psyche constantly. Alone with theperpetual progress of Chinese economic structure revolution and thegreat-leap-forward development of Chinese higher education, the main characteristicsof Chinese university students have been changing drastically, the brand newchallenges and circumstances of educating Chinese university students ideologicallyand politically are taking place. Thus, reinforcing the strength of counselor group inChinese universities becomes more and more important on account of this overallbackground. By the symbol of <The Advice of the Central Committee of theCommunist Party of China Concerning the Advanced Enhancement and Improvementof Chinese University Students’ Ideological and Political Education> file No.16,issued in2004, and <The Construction Stipulation of Chinese University CounselorGroup> order No.24, issued in July,2006, the construction of Chinese counselorgroup steps into a new stage. Reinforcing and improving the quality of counselorgroup in Chinese universities is an inevitable requirement in terms of pushing forwardthe connotative development of Chinese universities. On the other hand, it is also thenecessary tendency for Chinese universities to incubate high-level skilled elites andbuild the harmonious culture and atmosphere in campus.The essential and potential issues such as high fluidity, uncertain responsibility,and incomplete management structure frustrating Chinese universities whileconducting a high quality counselor group. Meanwhile, attribute to the powerfulpolitical support from the Chinese government, the progress of counselor group gainsarray of opportunities on the way to attempting to become more professional andspecial. The Northeast Normal university makes plenty of positive attempts in orderto conduct a high quality counselor group tightly following Chinese policy. What ismore, The Northeast Normal university has also set up a general goal in order tocultivate counselors become thinker and educators who are highly capable for theideological and political education. This paper envisions and reveals the future of counselor group development byresearching the relevant materials of both Chinese counselor group progress historyand the practical work and results of counselor group in Northeast Normal university.Furthermore, this paper has also drew attention on the achievements of counselorgroup development starting from studying the current construction situation ofcounselor group of Northeast Normal university. The content of this paper is basicallydevided into three sections. First part contains a brief instruction introducing thehistorical background of counselor group progress.
