The author did a fieldwork reach about the behavior of "honest peasant" in land acquisitions and demolitions in A village, and trying to do a explanatory understand of their social action. The author put forward a pair of concepts:economic rationality" and "social rationality".Economic rationality" is aimed at economic target It is a kind of thinking, that is, around their own economic goals, select the optimal means to achieve their goals."Social rationality" is more complicated than "economic rationality" It means in land acquisitions and demolitions, the villagers not only consider economic goals, but also consider their social goals,"Social rationality" explains why the villagers agreed to move.in land acquisitions and demolitions in A village While "Economic rationality" explains the opposite Economic rationality is an ideal model while social reason is a kind of choice which is based on the reality Finally the author draw the conclusion:"honest man" is not so honest as they seems to be their compromises is considering a result of various kinds of social factors.
