Study On The Wushu Culture In The Coastal Area Of Zhejiang Province

Although Chinese culture is a big full unity, it is also rich in large diversity due to its vast area, great variety of peoples, mutiple natural conditions and as well as various economic and political levels. It is the multiformity in surroundings that facilitates the regional culture with its own distinctive features. The traditonal sport, which belongs to this culture system, has the salient characteristics of territoriality as well, possessing its unique forms, contents and ideas. Thereofore, studying the Wushu culture in different regions and deeply researching materials that reflect the national spirit of the regional Wushu culture, is one of the most specific and effective ways to make Chinese Wushu culture serve to cultivate and promote Chinese national spirit.In ancient times, Zhejiang Province is part of Wu-Yue area and now the study of Wushu culture in this region belongs to Wu-Yue Wushu culture. Because of various physical geographies, cultural customs and economic and political issues, the Wushu culture in the coastal area of Zhejiang is entirely and totally different from other parts of Zhejiang Province. This paper firmly focuses on the Wushu culture in the coastal area of Zhejiang, explores and studies its formtive factors, development history, personality characteristics and so on.1. The culture, geopgraphical conditions, and social environment in the coastal area of Zhejiang jointly gestate the Wushu culture in this region. And contributing factors of the Wushu culture in the coastal area of Zhejiang are directly related with the martial honor of Yue people, the Anti-Japanese War in Ming Dynasty, and peasant revolts in many dynasties.2. The popular Chinese boxings of Wushu in the coastal area of Zhejiang are basically native-born, or spread here for a long time. Most of these kinds of boxing can be called Zhejiang Nanquan, bearing the features of hand-to-hand fighting, and their motion, momentum, vigour, strongness and softness also possess the distinguishing features of the coastal area of Zhejiang Province, which are appropiate to its unique geopgraphical conditions.3. The Wushu activities in the folk are usually performed during the slack season or temple fair in the form of folk entertainment in order to amuse the common people, and those become part of the conventional folk-custom activity and reflect the strong folk-custom in Wushu. As a result, the forms of art performance, related to Wushu, are really plentiful in the coastal area of Zhejiang.4. The papaer would like to explore the causes of the development of Wushu in the coastal area of Zhejiang from the pespectives of military establishment, anti-Japanese movement and peasant movement. And this paper would also summarize the regional culture characteristics through the analyses of life habits, technical features and function transformaitons of Wushu in this region.
