Study Of The Role And Function Of Student Association On College Community Work

Domestic research about college social work in the exploratory stage, and the necessityof college social work has been basically reached a consensus in the academic community, thecurrent focus and difficulty of the research is the development path and intervention studies ofcollege social work. College community work is the embodiment of college social work. Inthe face of the limited resources and the inadequate services, college community work as oneof the three main methods of college social work is well to mobilize and organize theresources within the college community. From the view of college community work, thevarious kinds of college student associations as a kind of important organization form incollege community are developing rapidly. College student association is a component of thecollege community. It is not only the work object of the community work, but also thesupport of carrying out the college community work. It will be an important mean ofmaintaining the relationship of community members and promoting the college communitylife. The basic assumption of this research is “college student association is the importantresource for college, and it is the power to rely and the platform to use for starting collegecommunity work.” In this study, we specifically analyze the roles and functions of the collegestudent association and college community work by the way of putting the N universitystudent association as research subject. The result of the study showed that college studentassociation plays an important role and a certain function in organizational construction、service and cultural construction in college community.In organizational construction, college student association is the main subject of its ownorganizational construction and plays the role of coordination and liaison in the process ofcooperating with other associations, and it also can promote effective communication andavoid unhealthy competition with other associations. In service construction, college studentassociation is not only the service object of the college community service, but also theparticipants of community service. College student association plays catalytic、coordinate、intermediary、service planners and provider roles. In cultural construction, by using theknowledge and ability, participating in the elementary education, popularizing scientific knowledge, taking entertainment activities, transferring the spirit of the university tocommunity residents, college student association plays educator、resource provider role, and italso can help overseeing、implementing、mobilizing. It will enhance the value of the collegestudents’ social practice, enrich the students’ after school life, cultivate the ability to serviceand coordination, and also objectively promote the identification of the campus culture,increase the positive interaction between the communities. In the role-playing process,through holding various activities, every groups in college student association involved inproviding various forms of service for association, so college student association can playfunctions in community integrated, providing community services, organizing communitymembers to participate and linking resources and influencing policies.At last, for the difficulties of the process of community development, this studyconsiders that the main goal of people oriented, college community development, theprinciple of extensive cooperation can be applied to the work of management and practice incollege student association, and college student association can use community analysis,relationship building and evaluation methods, techniques to achieve empowerment.
