We are living in an era of picture-reading,with a lot of dizzying visual text in everycorner and also changing our way of cognition.Among them,Chinese teaching of primaryschool which is given priority to the text is faced with the unprecedented impact andchallenges.Under the concept of "big Chinese", subject integration and using variousmeans to promote the teaching effect is the main trend of Chinese curriculumreform.Therefore, we can try to reform the Chinese teaching in primary school by usingvisual literacy, and at the same time to meet the challenges brought about by the "mapreading age".So to explore whether visual literacy can have a positive role on Chineseteaching in primary school and how to implement the positive effect are very necessary.This article uses the literature research, questionnaire investigation, analysis,teachingpractice and other research methods, to discuss the role and its implementation of visualliteracy in the reform of Chinese teaching in primary school.Through literature study, theauthor defines the connotation of visual literacy,analyzes the research at home andabroad.Put the teachers and students in Nanmen Primary School of Hefei as the sample toinvestigate the basic situation of the teachers and students’ visual literacy through theanalysis of survey results.On this basis, combining with teaching practice, this paper putsforward to the recommendations to promote the reform of Chinese teaching in primaryschool with visual literacy:to strengthen the visual literacy of teachers and students is themain pathway;then using the visual literacy, and putting "graphic" interaction as the center,to promote the development of the reform of Chinese teaching in primary school.And as aguide, the author designs teaching design based on the visual literacy and try to practice inChinese teaching of primary school.Finally, through the analysis of the case,this paperconcludes some methods of using visual literacy in Chinese teaching of primaryschool,which provides some theoretical and practical basis for using the visual literacy inChinese teaching of primary school.
