Amid the constant development of education and teaching,elementary school teachers are universally faced with occupationalpressure. With the development of society, more and more attention ispaid on education development and stricter requirements are put forwardfor teachers, the occupation of elementary school teacher is no longer themost stable one. In addition, what elementary school teachers deal withare living people with thoughts, feelings and subjective initiatives,therefore elementary school teacher is an occupation with heavy load andhigh intensity.Occupational particularity endows elementary school teacherswith pressure that is much higher than those for the general population. Inaddition to new requirements from the new adjustment of administrativedivision, elementary school teachers also face various occupationalpressures. Starting from analysis of the present status of pressures ofteachers in grassroots public elementary schools in Shanghai, this paperexpounds the theory and pressure, pressure sources, occupationalpressures, occupational pressures of elementary school teachers,etc. through summarizing relevant literatures. Meanwhile samplequestionnaire surveys are conducted on several public elementary schoolsin a district of Shanghai (referred to as “several public elementary schoolsin A District of Shanghai” in this paper), and empirical analysis is madeto understand the elementary school teachers’ pressure sources, pressuremanagement strategies as well as physical and mental health statusesfollowing the adjustment of administrative division in A District ofShanghai, so as to reveal the issue of occupational pressure currentlyfaced by teachers in grassroots public elementary schools in Shanghai.The research shows that occupational pressures for teachers ingrassroots public elementary schools in A District of Shanghai mainlycome from the work itself, work decision-making and occupationalconfidence with the first two being the major sources, and that pressuresources are significantly different for elementary school teachers whohave different basic information. Pressure management strategies forpublic elementary school teachers can be divided into two dimensions,namely positive disposal and negative disposal, and distinctive pressuremanagement strategies are applied by public elementary school teacherswho have different basic information. The health status of teachers ingrassroots public elementary school is generally good yet impacted bywork pressure. The regression analysis reveals the impact of occupationalpressure sources and pressure management strategies on the physical andmental health of teachers in grassroots public elementary schools, andalso reveals some regulation effects.Teachers in grassroots public elementary schools in Shanghaihave different kinds of pressures,so in order to gain satisfactory effects,special and specific strategies should be applied for managingoccupational pressure for teachers in grassroots public elementary schools.The results show specific opinions and suggestions, from the perspectives of individual response and group response, are put forward herein as tohow the elementary school teachers in A District of Shanghai caneffectively respond to and alleviate occupational pressure as well asimprove individual physical and mental health and teaching abilities, soas to provide a scientific guide for human resource management and theimprovement of public elementary schools.
