Teaching is the core of the education process of a teacher. Thus the improvement of teaching skill of a teacher can indeed propel his/her career. A teacher can form his/her own teaching style which is based on the imitation of others at the beginning of his/her career and by this process, the teaching skill and mentality of a teacher can get more mature and stable. A teacher can teach students through various kinds of teaching activities. Learning from the most excellent teachers all over the world, we can easily find they are all unique in their teaching field. That means they all have their own teaching style. The unique teaching style is not only the signal of experienced teaching presented by a good teacher, but also a mirror which reflect the distinction of an outstanding teacher. A favorable teaching style can arouse students to study actively so as to improve education efficiency. Without the development of teaching, a teacher can never be a good one. Being a unique person, a teacher has his/her own teaching style. Therefore, a common exploration of teaching-style theory can not bring pointed practical value to all the readers for reference. Making a general survey of all the studies on this field, we can find most studies paid much attention just to the surface of the theory and lack the comparison among teachers from different countries. The development of a good teacher lies in the growth of his/her teaching process. Thus my study, which is based on the exploration of the theory on teaching style and teachers’ development and the factors influencing it, is making an attempt to give some inspiration or reference to the young teachers. My study also analyzed the forming process of the outstanding teaching styles by comparing those excellent Chinese language teachers from China and the US, using literature, cases and educational narrative. This study includes 5 parts. The first part aims to set a framework of our analysis to compare the teachers included in the specific cases by their teaching process, the forming of it and factors that affect the forming process. In the study, I used different methods to compare the different teaching styles, such as their teaching designs, ways of how they perform teaching, their teaching languages etc. As to the process about how they form their teaching styles, I not only showed the general time which they spent in forming their teaching styles, but also analysed the way they used for that by reading, listenning, performing, thinking etc. In the second part, comparison between these teachers is illustrated to readers by choosing cases, introducing them and the comparative basis. And the third part is presented to explore the cases based on the analysis above in the second part. Firstly, I analysed the difference of teaching styles between Li Jilin and Frank McCourt. Then, combining their professional development and the general time of how they form their unique teaching styles. We can find the difference of their growing process by reading, listenning, performing, considering, writing and speaking. At last, I analyzed the effective factors which influenced the forming process of their teaching styles from the inside out by the theory that conduct this phenomenon. The fourth part goes to the discoveries of the comparison. You can learn from what I have analyzed that the teaching style of a good teacher is mature and unique, and the forming process of their teaching style is long and hard because they have to improve themselves by various methods. The last part put forward some suggestion which can help the Chinese language teachers in primary schools and middle schools form their own teaching style and then contribute to their success by inspiration and reference. The process of a teacher’s growing on teaching skills is also the development of forming their own teaching styles, from which a good teacher was born. From what I mentioned above, you can see that the time when every teacher form his/her own teaching style and the methods they chose and even the effective factors that influenced its forming differ a lot. Consequently, young teachers can not just imitate those experienced teachers blindly, instead, young teachers should learn by heart what they lack from the experience of those good teachers during the development of their career by combining their features so that they can find the proper way to form their own teaching style and lay the foundation of their development to be a good teacher.
