With the large expansion of the fine arts’ student recruitment size in colleges, the basic sketch teaching has composed an important component of the high school teaching, and some high schools have set up the special classes for fine arts. The author has teached classes of fine arts in the Huiwen Second Middle School in Changli, Qinhuangdao. Through investigating on the teaching materials of fine arts training classes and the policies of college entrance exam, we have analyzed and sorted the problems existing in basic sketch teaching. In addition, the author has analyzed the drawbacks from the aspects of teaching materials, form, teaching goals and the students’ condition, respectively. The basic sketch teaching of high school has been greatly influenced by the basic sketch teaching of the colleges of fine arts and exam-oriented education, leading to that the teachers mainly impart knowledge to the students, pay much attention on skill training and stress on the painting results, but ignore the relationship between teaching and learning, and the completeness and coherence of the teaching system.Under the newly curriculum standards, the student’s improvements in all around is the guiding ideology of the basic sketch teaching of high school, and quality education is also required. Moreover, the changes of the status of teachers and high requirement of the students’ sketching skills, and the coordination of teaching and learning control the balance of quality education and exam-oriented education. Based on the teaching method that the desination of teaching theory and rule suits the students, the basic sketch teaching of high school breaks out the sole teaching mode to apply the integrated teaching to make students well master the rule of modeling.This paper mainly includes the problems found out through the author’s teaching practice, and also the author’s suggestions about the educational reform. This work begins with the following principles: why to teach, what to teach and how to teach. Why to teach: Via the teaching practice in high school, the author finds out some salient problems and tries to solve it by taking the newly curriculum standards and the policies of the college entrance exam as the newly measure. What to teach: Based on the rule of modeling of sketching and the criterion of the college entrance exam, the author sets up the goals of basic sketch teaching, specific teaching materials, teaching methods and teaching evaluation, and also puts forward the “structure” and “shadow” as the guiding ideology. How to teach: The author breaks out the traditional sole model of teaching, and applies the normative teaching method to guide and inpire the thoughts of the students. Teachers should improve the students’ development in all around, thus the students would become the telented people.
