Our government has always been paying much attention to the support and development of education, and it assures that cultivating high-quality specialized talents and top innovative talents is the key work in the colleges and universities. Higher education takes the responsibility of cultivating the high-quality innovative talents in the future. If the problem of cultivating the innovative talents wants to be solved fundamentally, it must start from changing the undergraduates’ mindset and give play to their creative thinking. Through the study of creative thinking and design activities, it finds that innovation is the core of design thinking, and cultivation of innovative spirit and ability can be increased by cultivating design thinking. Therefore, the thesis will blend the concept of design thinking in the teaching of professional courses in the colleges and universities, which is aimed at cultivating the undergraduates’ design thinking and then improving their innovative consciousness and ability.To realize the goal of cultivating undergraduates’ design thinking ability in the teaching process in the thesis. Based on the literature research of problem-solving theory and design thinking, research the teaching framework and strategies for developing undergraduates’ design thinking ability which include a variety of thinking modes, teaching application of training methods of thinking and tools. And construct the general teaching process model of design thinking, which includes four stages: identification and representation of problems, exploration and design, optimization and execution of projects and evaluation of results.Guided by the teaching research of cultivating design thinking, this thesis selects a specific course of university, designed and applied teaching cases to evaluate effect of teaching and cultivating design thinking, and conclude the corresponding conclusion, which provides a reference for subsequent teaching research of undergraduates’ design thinking ability cultivation.
