Teaching materials play a very important role in Chinese language teaching. This paper chose a localized senior high school Chinese text book Huayu as research object. The text book was chosen because it was a project of Chinese Hanban and approved by Indonesian Department of Education; many Indonesian high schools use it as their main teaching materials.This paper analyzed several aspects of the text book: its classification, structure, contents(including text, vocabulary, grammar, cultural contents and exercises) and its localization. Afterwards, we listed the advantages and disadvantages of Huayu, as well as some suggestions for improvement.Through the analysis, we found that Huayu follow the principle of gradual progress in the writing process, the text book also have rather high usability and relevance. The grammar explanations in Huayu are easy to understand; there are enough exercises, and the types of exercise are also quite varied. On the other hand, Huayu also has some shortcomings, such as lack of interesting materials, unnatural dialogues, pinyin on all the texts, lack of vocabularies.
