Localization of teaching materials for Chinese as a foreign language refers to the process of adjusting the contents of teaching materials according to the social culture,educational system and characteristics of learners.There are a number of localized Chinese teaching materials had been compiled and published in Indonesia.But there are many problems in these teaching materials,such as new words exceeding the outline seriously and knowledge errors,so the proportion of using foreign teaching materials is significantly higher than that of local teaching materials,among which the teaching material with the highest usage rate is Chinese compiled by Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College.According to my teaching experience with Chinese in Indonesia,the textbook lacks local content reflecting local social culture,leading to students' lack of interest in learning.Therefore,this paper selects Yumiao Huayu,a local textbook adapted from Chinese,as the research object,compares Yumiao Huayu with Chinese,and study the localization of Yumiao Huayu in various aspects.This paper analyzes the style,text,vocabulary,grammar and expansion of Yumiao Huayu through literature research,statistical analysis and comparative research.It was found that Yumiao Huayu added a large number of conversations to improve students' oral communicative competence,increased local vocabulary and texts with local themes to arouse students' interest,reduced the number of vocabulary and grammar items to reduce the difficulty of learning,and added children's songs and pictures to enhance the fun of teaching materials.However,Yumiao Huayu also has many problems,such as less localized content,the lack of cultural awareness of contrast,the lack of awareness of the Indian and Chinese language contrast.Based on the above analysis,this paper puts forward feasible suggestions for improvement of Yumiao Huayu,such as enriching the content of local culture,making cultural comparison and adding notes of teaching media language,etc.,so as to promote the optimization and perfection of this textbook.
