The new curriculum requires us to pay much attention to students’ reading ability in our Chinese teaching, while the ability of literature appreciation is the most important in students’ reading ability. Then, how can we cultivate the students’ ability of literature appreciation in teaching at school?By studying the contents of the junior high school textbooks inside and outside the class, the author has found that the cultivation of literature appreciation ability for junior high school students has obvious stage goals:in Grade Seven, it focuses on the accumulation of general knowledge, contents and methods; focuses on the enhancements of the aesthetic understanding ability; and focuses on the cultivation of appreciation interest. In Grade Eight, it focuses on the expanse of humanism connotation in breadth and depth; focuses on the further enrichment of students’ appreciation methods;and focuses on the the development of aesthetic feeling ability, imagination ability, simple aesthetic evaluation and aesthetic imagination ability. In Grade Nine, it focuses on the participation of students and the intervention of experience; focuses on the initial formation of aesthetic evaluation capacity by by exploring the text behind a wealth of information, analysis and evaluation exercises. Achieving these three stages helps students to form a preliminary appreciation. But it’s just for a better objective conditions, in fact to effectively improve the students’ ability of appreciation and didn’t, what’s the problem? How should solve? These problems will become the author of this academic papers focus on the key to analysis and solve.Through the questionnaire survey of literary appreciation and language test score analysis in Chengdu Huaxi High School, where the author works as a Chinese teacher, the author has summed up the main problems in literary appreciation of the students at the school are: the utilitarian reading, the lack of reading atmosphere, and the lack of proper guidance of methods and skills.According to the analysis based on the results of the investigation, the author has conducted guidance strategies from the three aspects of language teaching, the training of the skills and methods, and extracurricular reading. Each kind of strategy should try to take practice as the basis.
