Our country is a multi-national country with 56 different Minzu groups each of which has its unique national culture. Five thousand years spectacular civilization history is created by the development of these groups. Therefore ethnic issues is one of the most important aspects in the construction of a harmonious society. Under such a complicated regional political situation and cultural background, the relationship between ethnic identification draws great attention from many scholars. Education, as a significant promoter of civilization, plays an essential part in the socialization and personalization of each individual, making sure there healthy development mentally and physically. Taking education in a broad sense, the thesis discusses the interaction between diversified education forms of ethnic identification and national identification, by making a typical Miao village named Xiaomaopoying a case. There are five chapters:Chapter one is an introduction of the research background and the significance of the present study. Based on the similar anthropological and ethnic researches a suitable research method is designed under the comparison of relative research in China and abroad.Chapter 2 introduces the present situation in Southwest of Miao’s in details, from which we can understand the geographical importance of Xiaomaopoying. The education development of the village is profoundly discussed regarding its historical changes.Three analyzes the education of Miao in view of its ethnic identification. The study mainly examines such factors in school education that may influence ethnic identification. The special forms of ethnic identification in community education and family education are also discussed.The forth part focuses on the relationship between ethnic education and national identification. School education, as a national institution are bound to convey many different factors of national identification, while in community education and family education. National identification is fulfilled in a unconscious way.The last part is a summary,which reflects on the relationship between ethnic identification and national identification from Educational Anthropology. There are not only great conflicts and disputes, but also close benefits between them. As far as education is concerned it can facilitate the transition form ethnic identification to national identification, which is a great promotion of human identification.
