Theory of brain function division, created by Roger Wolcott Sperry, caused people to pay attention to the right hemisphere, which makes the imaginal thinking gradually enter researchers’ sight. The development of pupils’ thought is from imaginal thinking to abstract logical thinking. According to the study of imaginal thinking done by the scholars, it’s very favorable to cultivate the imaginal thinking through education. In China, the study of the imaginal thinking lags behind and neglects of combination imaginal thinking with subjects. The research of imaginal thinking which bonds to elementary mathematics curriculum is still at the stage of introduction the cultivation approaches, and do not combine it with actual teaching. Therefore, the author chooses this topic, aims at training students’ imaginal thinking under multimedia environment. By collecting data through teaching experiments to verify the validity of training pathways. Details are as follows.Firstly, this paper analyzes the current situation of mathematics imaginal thinking in primary school, investigates the attention rate of imaginal thinking from mathematics material and teaching, and the implementation in mathematics teaching in primary school.Secondly, the paper takes the third grade mathematics curriculum as an example, blending multimedia environment with the cultivation of imaginal thinking, designing mathematics teaching scheme, opening up a new field in the research of imaginal thinking, with the characteristics of illustrated and vivid image in multimedia.Thirdly, the paper uses of quantitative tests to verify the validity of culturing imaginal thinking. The conclusions as below. First, the visual teaching methods in multimedia environment is conductive to the development of imaginal thinking. Second, the improvement of the ability of imaginal thinking can promote math scores, both are positive correlation.The innovation of this study is to break the traditional teaching methods, take students as the center using visual teaching methods in multimedia environment. The research results show that, this teaching mode can not only achieve good teaching goals and improve students’ interest in learning, but also cultivate students’ imaginal thinking to make the students get all-round development.
