In the progress of industrialization and the urbanization development, a policy of agriculture regurgitation feeding industry has been carried out for a long time in our country, the gap between the income level of farmers and urban residents is relatively large. Along with the development of the economy, there are a large number of surplus young rural labor force in the rural area. A large number of migrant workers who go into cities, has injected new vitality for the city, but also formed the "left-behind" problem. And left-behind families which are composed of "386199" has more and more problems about emotional absence. Families whose emotional need can’t be met not only affect the left-behind members’ own life, also affect the family,the stability of rural communities, and the development of the whole agricultural production.This article combines the author’s questionnaire, interview and observation data. The author analyzes the current situation of rural left-behind families’ emotional needs: the emotional needs of the rural left-behind members in the families, the emotional needs of the rural left-behind families, the emotional needs of the rural left-behind families and social status. No matter which kind of emotional need it is, the problem that the need can’t be met is very serious. Within families, emotions are not being met between left-behind women and their husbands. They get together much less than before and therefore it is difficult to meet the demand of love. Left-behind children long for parent’s love, care and education but it is hard to meet their needs. Migrant workers have to work out all the year round and can’t always look after their left-behind parents. Left-behind old people not only have to take extra responsibility, which is left-behind to the remaining part of the family but also have to endure the loneliness without their own children’s accompany.On the basis of the the analysis of the status quo about the rural left-behind families’ emotional needs and the problem that emotional needs can’t be met, the author explore the reasons why the rural left-behind families’ emotional need can’t be met. At first, the economic reason: backward rural economy led to the remaining problems. Second, the social reasons: lack of social support networks in left-behind dilemma exists. Third, family reasons: the family structure is not sound which lead to emotional needs not be met for a long time. Fourth, the personal reasons: the emotional dependence on migrant workers lead to the difficulty to compensate emotional needs. In analysis of the conditions to meet the demand of left-behind families, the institutions, the society, rural community, rural left-behind families and left-behind family members are all important and affect the problem. On the basis of analysis of the rural left-behind families’ social support path choice, first of all, it is essential to speed up the economic development and improve basic public services. Secondly, strengthen the construction of rural community, optimize the environment of the rural community. Finally, focus on families’ special demand, create a good family atmosphere. To meet the emotional need of left-behind families, a lot of effort should be made in different aspects such as the system, society, and rural communities, families etc. In a word, it is urgent to set up a perfect social support network.
