In the 21 st century, physical education in China is in the flourish, college’s physical education develops vigorously, however, the direction of curriculum development and the structure pattern of which fail to keep up with the times.The development of curriculum requires specific orientation. Competence oriented curriculum fits the development direction of physical education curriculum, and also the professional reform in physical education. Therefore, studying the basic theory of competence oriented curriculum is to lay an foundation for professional reform in physical education.This thesis studies competence oriented curriculum by using the documentary method, logical analysis, mathematical statistics, as well as comparative analysis. Competence oriented curriculum combines the theory and practical use organically, which is a comprehensive subject in knowledge learning, ability training and personality cultivation. In addition, this sort of curriculum is extensively applied in language study. The application of it undoubtedly sustains the specialty reform in physical education especially in theoretic innovation, shifting focus, structural adjustment, shaping personality and technical renovation.According to the research, the results are as follows.(1)The objectives of the course in physical education should focus on student’s competence development and put the“people-oriented” idea in the first.Through the organic combination of social demand and personal development, so that it could lay the foundation for student’s future development;(2)Constructing competence oriented curriculum should insist the trinity principle, that is, the course exploitation must be competence-oriented, the course structure must be competence-centered, and the compilation of teaching materials must be practical;(3)The course implementation should be guided by the essence of teaching organization theory, the relationship between teachers and students on the subject, theory of technology and art, the comprehensive effect of model methodology, and the development of teacher education technology concept;(4)The course evaluation of competence oriented curriculum should adopt various evaluation modes and patterns so as to establish an effective and integrated evaluation system.Based on the research, some conclusions and suggestions are drawn as follows.(1)The design in the goals of curriculum of physical education of general colleges in China should be more specific and extensive. That is to say, more attention should be paid to the practical operation rather than book study. We should put personality education in the core, then unite the double-based teaching, ability training, and personality shaping effectively in the actual job of teaching;(2)In the forming of competence oriented curriculum, the cultivation of student’s competence should be laid in the first;(3)During the course implementation process, teachers should center upon the essence of teaching, concentrating on the relationship between students and teachers, promoting the artistic and technical level, employing multifarious modes and methods, and emphasizing the use of modern teaching technology;(4)There has been a lopsided view in specialized courses in physical education, as a result, an objective and scientific competence-oriented evaluation system is badly needed.Study on basic theory of competence oriented curriculum defines the evaluation mechanism and the main principles of it. It performs an important function not only in advancing the quality of teaching, but in the cultivation of student’s innovative practical ability and perfecting personality. Above all, competence oriented curriculum is of great pragmatic significance to lead the reform of traditional physical education out of plight, which helps to promote the quality education in an all-round way.
