The Research Of The Situation And Problems About Major Settings Of Colleges In Jiangxi Province

Teaching activity is the basic function of colleges. As the main carrier of teaching in colleges, the major not only provides the training direction of professional talents, but also is the key factor affecting the overall development of the university. Scientific and reasonable major setting is the basic conditions for the sustainable development of colleges and talent training. After the founding of new Chinese, the major setting of colleges experienced four large-scale adjustment and reform. Now the major setting with Chinese characteristics has adapted to the needs of economic and social development. But there are still many problems. The major setting problems increasingly grow, especially in the process of popularization of higher education. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct in-depth study of the major setting in colleges.With the popularization of higher education and the expanding of college enrollment, the education resources have not increased. All the people can not help think about the quality of higher education personnel training. This study started under this background.Based on the major setting theory, this study used the literature research method and statistical method to conduct the present major setting situations of 20 universities in Jiangxi province. The results showed four main issues. Firstly, the present major setting situation does not match the key industry development in Jiangxi province. Secondly, the layout of present major setting situation is not reasonable. Thirdly, the major setting is similar seriously. Lastly, the major setting is lack of predictability. In order to solve the four problems and analyze the causes, we put forward four suggestions in the perspective of government, society and universities.
