Competitive swimming is second only to track and field in the Olympic Games as the events that create most gold medals. No matter in the Olympic Games, the Asian Games, the National Games or other comprehensive competitions, the score of swimming will have a huge influence on the final ranking of the whole delegation. The reason why the United States has held hegemony over the competitive sports for many years is bound up with its outstanding performance in competitive swimming. Though China has many world champion swimmers and Olympic swimming gold medal winners, competitive swimming in China still has a long way to go given the little benefit it has made for the Chinese delegation.Beijing is one of the cities in China that start swimming training in advance of other cities, so Beijing has better mass foundation. After many years of exploration and development, Beijing swimming team has built up its own pyramid training system that successfully connects the swimmers in first level, second level and third level together and has cultivated many excellent swimmers for the national team. However, Beijing swimming team has been on the decline for recent years because of the retirement of many great swimmers. Beijing swimming team now lacks the top athletes. Cultivating the reserve force is the foundation of the development of the competitive sports. Only if Beijing swimming team pays more attention to fostering reserve personnel can it extricate itself from the difficult situation. This study analyzes the status quo of swimming reserve personnel training in Beijing from coach and trainer team, trainees, training time, training place, auxiliary equipment, training load, and training approaches these seven aspects, by using the methods of literature research, questionnaire survey, interview, mathematical statistics and field investigation and setting the training circumstances in amateur sports school, Yu Ying Middle School and second level teams in Beijing’s four districts and towns as the objects of the study. Study result:1. Coaches of scale difficult to meet the training needs, and for delivery of low motivation.2. Athletes certain brain drain phenomenon, mainly due to the learning and training does not solve conflicts, fewer opportunities for athletes.3. For parents of children engaged in professional athletes swim training support is low.4.Since the coaches and trainers make training plan is not systematic and scientific.5. Land training ground is difficult to meet the training needs, training of land less than overall require, the types of auxiliary training equipment are not varied enough.6. The training load of athletes at younger age is higher than the syllabus requirement, between a big gap between second and third team training load is difficult to achieve a gradual increase of the capacity of athletes.
