Between Administration And Specialization:Identity Ambiguity And Career Development Of Community Workers With

The Ministry of Civil Affairs conducted examinations of Junior Social Worker and Social Worker in 2008,which officially opened a historical process of social work professionalism of China.From the first national social worker occupation level examination to the present,more and more people have passed the exam,in which besides the professional social work students,the large of community workers accounted for the main part.Thus,forming a situation that professional social work fast embedded in the local social work,which makes a large number of workers without the professional education and training of social work in street and community to translate into official social worker quickly,this is called the community workers with social work professional qualification certification.They are employed by the streets and communities before,their own identity directly affects the quality of community service,personal career development and the development of social work profession.So,there is a profound significance to research the identity and career development of community workers with social work professional qualification certification.From the community workers are constructed "community social workers"by passing the social work occupation qualification examination,this thesis uses purposive sample and snowball sample to have the interviews in depth of ten community workers on the part of the cities of Jiangsu Province.Analyzing the interview data with examples and comparative analysis method.From the perspective of "embedability",the thesis use the related social work policies and the community environment with embedded policies as the background,to study the process of identity production,performance of identity ambiguity,personal career development and the development of social work profession with identity theory and social ecosystem theory,and so on.lt shows that a large number of community workers are constructing their own identity as "social worker" in the design of institution actively or passively,which identity is ambiguous.There is little change than before in work content,work methods,professional supervision,education training and assessment due to still use the traditional work mode,which affects the development of occupation directly.lt is generally recognized that they have the low identity,the unclear occupation planning. On the one hand,the promotion is very difficult as an administrative worker;on the other hand, the promotion channel is closed as a social worker.To a certain extent,It affects the development of social work specialization and occupation.Therefore,The author think we should proceed from the government,community,and community workers,to achieve the social work talents construction goals of large scale,good quality and rational structure.This study is mainly divided into seven parts:The first part mainly introduces the research background and significance of two aspects;The second part is related to the systematic review of literature and theory,which provides a lot of inspiration for this study;The third part is to show the research methods of data collection,collation and the process of analysis,forming a clear research framework;The fourth,five and six three parts are the main part of this research, discoursing separately from the identity construction of the certified community workers,the performance of identity ambiguity to the current situation of career development;The seventh part is the conclusion of this study,giving advice on social work troop’s construction,also analyzing the limitations and shortcomings of this study.
