In order to meet the request to Junior middle school and primary school in New Curriculum Standards, recently, many public schools have been doing the reforming and improving for the oral English teaching mode, but it does not work well. While New Oriental,as the top English training school, it brings up a lot of English elites to different fields in society, whose listening and speaking ability can do the communication in work and life totally. And their learning in New Oriental has laid the firm foundation of study aboard, which leaves a lot of thinking and referencing space for full-time schools. This research is mainly on spoken English teaching characteristics of New Oriental that includes: teaching philosophy and models, teaching ways and methods, how to inspire students’ interests, confidence nurturing, class interaction.Due to there are many New Oriental training schools in China, while the headquarter is in Beijing, so I selected Beijing New Oriental as sample. Through classroom observation, recording, actual class visiting and interviews with teachers and students, combined with consulting the related material, I accumulated a lot of first hand information and data. In this study, I explained the teaching characters with the classroom cases, and analyzed and compared the advantages and disadvantages of New Oriental and at last I concluded the meaning for the full-time school.At last, in the whole study, I found that compared to the full-time school, New Oriental really has its own characters that deserve to be followed: on the teaching philosophy and models, it never requests students recite and practice the sentence patterns, its teaching philosophy and models are in the lead; and teaching ways and methods are more interesting and various rather than only one way. It also imports modern technology that makes the teaching be more effective; How to inspire students’ interests, confidence nurturing? The teaching respects the company culture, using a encouraged and humorous way to help students open their mouths to speak and overcome the difficulties; the last one is class interaction, the teachers are good at using communicative approach and situational language teaching. The teachers provides the real living situations for students and at the same time, they helped students improve their communication abilities. The students are active, learned knowledge in the relax atmosphere and practice their oral English. The classroom atmosphere is always active.
