Classical poetry is the essence China, which is handed down trough thousand years. It is not only a miracle in literary but also a spirit carrier of our Chinese people since it is a mark of common faith and perseverance to life of the people..But in the new period with high-speed development of knowledge, economy science and technology, the aesthetic characteristics of poetry and the poetry culture was the Chinese traditional poetry culture was invaded by network culture and foreign culture and the aesthetic characteristics of poetry were destructed.How to feel the beauty of language, artistic beauty, implicit beauty, and the pretty of emotion is the top priority in senior high school Chinese instruction. Chinese teaching, therefore, is not only to make the students master the basic skills,such as literacy, writing, the more important thing is to cultivate students’ aesthetic ability, independent appreciation ability and exploring ability. Classical poetry teaching is essential in high school. If it starts with the poetry ontology,the classical poetry is an independent symbol image system and the image is the unity of subjective intention of a poet and objective reality. Exploring the image teaching is the main motivation of this thesis writing). The theoretical foundations of this thesis are Education psychology, Chinese teaching introduction, poetry accepting aesthetics, imagery theory and quality-oriented education theory and the data foundation of it is the senior high school students questionnaire of Wanzhou T Middle School in Chongqing. This thesis is to reveal the current situation of the image teaching in appreciation of classical poetry in Wanzhou, to explore the causes of the current /present situation and to put forward corresponding solutions of it.The full thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction, which briefly introduces the reasons for selecting the topic, the purpose and significance of this thesis, the core concepts, theoretical foundation,literature review, the study design, the problems may occur and their solutions.The second and third part are respectively the investigation to image teaching in senior high school and analysis of the causes.questionnaire survey as the main method, analysis of lesson plans, classroom observation, interviews as auxiliary means and through the statistical analysis of the data, to find the existing images in current teaching problems in the appreciation of classical poems. The investigation shows: when accumulating classical poetry knowledge, students’ interest to learning those poetry is not strong and their basic knowledge is unstable; as to the awareness of learning classical poetry image, students’ ability of appreciating poetry with image is weak, especially to the connotation, features and group of poetry; as to the application of image, they lack the knowledge transfer ability; and in the teaching practice, classical poetry image teaching is just on the surface, it is for examination and just a procedure. And the learning of classical poetry is short of introspection and reflection. All the above-stated provide actual evidence for the writer.The fourth part is the solutions to the classical poetry image teaching in high school based on the investigation). the general solutions are as follows:on the school’s execution, the teaching principle of high school Chinese course education should be carried out seriously, teachers’ comprehensive abilities should be improved, their mastery of theory would be boosted and teaching skills ought to be expanded; students’ ability of understanding classical poetry should be reinforced and the awareness that image and intention are the keys to analyze poems have to be imparted to improve their comprehensive aesthetic ability and understanding ability in appreciating classical poetry.
