Research Of The Endogenous Relationship Between Science And Technology And Risk Society

The advance of science and technology has been equated with social progress for a long time, for every revolution in science and technology provides the motivation to social progress. While science and technology development creates enormous wealth, the potential risks emerge at the same time, which threat human development and survival severely. Gradually, people have come to realize that the development of modern science and technology posed serious challenges to the development of human society’s stability and security. Based on the analysis of technology risk, German sociologist Ulrich Beck proposed the risk society theory, which indicates that the negative effects of science and technology development have led to a social risk. However, it lacks a deep examination about the relationship between the development and risk society, and it overlooks the internal relations between those two factors. This paper, based on the theory of Beck’s risk society theory, tries to preliminarily clarify the endogenous relationship between science and technology development and risk society, as well as propose risk control strategies, to broaden the study perspective of risk society and provide advices on risk control.Mainly focus on the analysis of the endogenous relationship between science and technology development and risk society, how to fully discourse this relationship, a correlative, interactive and internal relationship, is the difficulty in this paper. In order to introduce the characteristics of risk in risk society which include global, endogenous and the unpredictability, it is important to compare the new risk in risk society with the risk in traditional society before thorough analysis. By analyzing the evolution progress of risk society, it indicates that science and technology is the origin of risk society, then illuminates:1. how science and technology itself, and as a kind of social organizational system lead to the generation of risk society; 2.the logic of endogenous relationship; and 3.the pattern of manifestation of endogenous relationship. Finally, follow the endogenous relationship between science and technology development and risk society raised the risk control strategy, it suggests the return of rational humanistic values, the establishment of advanced risk avoidance system and public participation in decision-making mechanism, and the reinforcement.
