During the period of Anti-Japanese War, the government of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region implements the marriage transformation for establishing the new system of sexual equality and freedom of marriage. This transformation abandons bad habits of feudal marriage system, brings the impact on the patriarchal family structure and improves the status of women in order to lay the foundation the consolidation of democratic regimes and early victory.All the time, the study focuses more on Border Region from political and economic aspects than the angle of the marriage. Some research works just pay more attention to women’s demands,but the conflict between men and women as well as old and new customs has been not deeply recognized.This article aims to reform marriage in Border Region during the War with a large amounts of data and absorbing previous studies,focusing on the matrimonial disputes and a series of measures taken by the government.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the old marriage customs,new marriage regulations,enacted measures and the new changes.Second and third chapters are the focus of this article.The second highlights the contradictions and disputes of the marriage.The third discusses positive measures in order to solute marriage disputes and achieve the purpose of unity and resistance.Chapter IV is a new woman marriage case analysis.They show the Border Region Government’s reform in the period of Anti-Japanese War,not only promote the early victory of democracy-building and border war, but also lay the foundation for the transformation of marriage after the founding of New China.
