Research On Higher Education In The Shaanxi-Gansu- Ningxia Border Region During The Anti-Japanese War

After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, in order to meet needs of the revolutionary war, the CPC Central Committee developed higher education in various forms in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region, and made tremendous contributions to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and the construction of the border region, and accumulated valuable schooling experience, which can provide great reference for the subsequent development of higher education in China.This thesis falls into six parts to study the higher education in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region during the Anti-Japanese War.The first part is the introduction part which elaborates the research background and significance, research status, research structure and innovation.In the second part, groundwork is laid for the research on higher education in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region during the Anti-Japanese War. Moreover, the work is done to analyze several aspects from the development status of the border society during the Anti-Japanese War to ideological and theoretical origins of education development, and introduce three stages in the development and evolution of higher education during the Anti-Japanese War.The third part provides a basis for studying higher education in Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region during the Anti-Japanese War. In this part, the systematic education system, which is composed of the principles and polices of national defense education, schooling philosophy, schooling modes, education management and course contents in the border region, is introduced, to summarize patriotic nature, people-serving nature, practice-based nature and openness of the higher education development.In the fourth part, an objective evaluation is made to figure out the contribution and limitations of the higher education in Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region during the Anti-Japanese War. This part is the focus of this thesis. This education practice helped to develop a large number of talents, improved people’s living standards, enriched the spiritual life of people, and laid a foundation for higher education in the new China. However, restricted by social conditions, the education practice at that time also showed some limitations.In the fifth part, innovations and key contents of this thesis are demonstrated. Higher education practice in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border adhering to party leadership development education, implement detailed and effective education plans, focus on talent training and education practice, carry forward the fine revolutionary spirit and constantly enrich education contents and forms, in order to gain success in education.In the sixth part, conclusions and prospects of this research are made, to figure out that the higher education development in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region has guided the direction of the subsequent higher education development in China.
