The thesis makes a tentative study on the influence of English movies on high school fine arts students’ motivation of English learning. After reviewing the relevant literature, the thesis finds that the relevant researches mainly focus on listening and speaking teaching, and also literature teaching at college, while there are few relevant studies on the relationship between English movies watching and high school fine arts students’ motivation of English learning.On the basis of motivation theories, the affective filter hypothesis, and the questionnaire as well, the author made an experimental course with the 30 subjects from Class 9, Senior 1 in a fine arts high school in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The course lasted one semester, about 15 weeks with an English movie watching class once a week. The English movie The Pursuit of Happyness was chosen to be the teaching material and the findings showed that the learning motivation in this class had improved.The thesis draws the conclusions that English movie watching can arouse fine arts students’ learning motivation, and make students understand that English learning is not just a series of boring activities of vocabulary and grammar learning, but a process of learning a new culture and improving students’ cross-cultural awareness.English movie watching is one of the best strategies to arouse fine arts students’ English learning motivation...
