The researcher founded that accompanying phenomenon was typical in Changsha junior high school through practicing. Previous researches analysed the accompanying phenomenon mostly from the angle of sociology and education, but less of psychology.The conflicts between junior school students and their parents was increased and the level of parent-child relationship was reduced because of physiological changes and the development of self awareness. Had accompanying choice influence the level of parent-child relationship?Firstly, the researcher described the accompanying phenomenon of Changsha junior school students through quantitative and qualitative methods. Secondly, researcher analysed the type and characteristics of accompanying families’ parent-child relations. Lastly, researcher provided scientific suggestions for accompanying parents. The results were as follows:(1) The proportion of accompanying parents was large. The students of grade eight accounted for the largest proportion, followed by grade nine, the students of grade seven accounted for the smallest proportion. The boys’ accompanying proportion was larger than girls.(2) The level of parent-child relationship of accompanying family were lower than that of non-accompanying students significantly; The basic types of accompanying family ’ parent-child relationship:The type of stern, the type of intimate, the type of protect and the type of high expectations;The characteristics:Accompanying parents ’ requirements and expectations were higher;Child dominated the child-parent relationship; In accompanying family,the transactional communication was more,the emotional communication was less.Accompanying family ’ parent-child relationship was significantly lower than non accompanying family.The factors were family structure,parents’ high expectations and the way of communication.
