Examination and Assessment Reform is an important part of the basic education curriculum reform. In the process of new curriculum reform, the reform of examination and assessment have made some achievements, but there are still some problems. In order to effectively play a positive role in the assessment, we should update and change some education idea and the evaluation methods and contents to meet the requirements of the new curriculum reform of measurement and evaluation of mathematics education. This research draws on the merits of international advanced educational assessment project-- Program for International Student Assessment (PISA for short). PISA is a international project of comparative study of the quality of student, initiated and organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD for short). The aim of this project is to measure whether the 15 year old students, who are at the end stage of compulsory education, have the knowledge and skills needed for the future, and lay a good foundation for lifelong learning. PISA Test began in 2000 and held every 3 years. It mainly to evaluate students’ reading literacy, mathematics literacy and science literacy, but the valuation focus on different part every year. Mathematical literacy are the focus in 2003 and 2012 PISA. In the evaluation of students’ literacy, PISA has developed a unique assessment system. This paper focuses on the assessment of PISA mathematical literacy. It begins to introduce definition of mathematical literacy of PISA and mathematical literacy of PISA, tap and analysis education concept and the theory and the framework of mathematical literacy assessment of PISA, especially how to come up with questions and choose the right question for the assessment and explore what we can learn from. The second part is the analysis of interview and test result with the data comes from a survey of evaluation of the mathematical literacy knowledge from a junior high school teachers in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, and the test of math literacy level of nine grade based on the practice tests that selected in PISA. Finally, it puts forward the suggestions of reform of mathematical literacy assessment for junior middle students in China.
