Sports optional class as one of the century 80’s major achievements for the physical education curriculum reform in Colleges and universities has become the main stream in the current physical education of Chinese Universities. Based on the sports field, equipment, facilities, faculty and other conditions, sports optional class can give the students’ sufficient autonomy, provide enough choices, and meet the different needs of students, so physical education better service for quality-oriented education. With the popularization of the sports optional class, the curriculum setting, type of curriculum, teaching mode, teaching contents are studied extensively. Some accomplishment has been achieved. Until now, study of the psychological motivation on female university students participating in sports optional class is in relatively simple and surface level; that is descriptive and univariate study. Study of the psychological motivation on female university students participating in sports option class can provide certain theoretical support and practical guidance for further higher education curriculum reform.This paper deeply analyzes and studies the motivation, body esteem and other psychological variables, using literature, interview, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics and logical analysis methods based on main line of different settings. Female university students are the main research objects. The purpose of this paper is to understand the students’ real needs of physical education curriculum, to inspect the behavior response features of choosing courses when teaching environment settings change, to reveal the relation between students options with each level of motivation, to clarify the relationship between students’ choose and body esteem, to explore the correlation between motivation types and dimensions of body esteem.The main research conclusions are as follows:1、Under the guidance of course project,students shows that higher autonomous motivation which can predict the students’positive exercise behavior(锻炼行为);under the guidance of setting environment,the choice of students shows higher control motivation which indicates that students are more likely to exhibit negative sports participation behavior.2、 Students who choose outdoor projects are highly autonomously motivated. In addition, extreme students have highest autonomous motivation.3、 Choose outdoor sports of female college students pay more attention to the ability of sports, physical fitness and physical quality, and the choice of indoor sports of female college students pay more attention to the external image.4、 Athletic ability, physical condition, physical quality of autonomous motivation and body esteem have a three dimensional significant positive correlation. External adjustment, no-motivation and body esteem are a significant negative correlation.
