There is a large number of various types of illustrations in the People’s education edition middle school Chinese textbooks,these illustrations are important part of the reading aid system.With the characteristics of its vivid, diversity and plays an irreplaceable role in Chinese teaching.This paper first introduces the development of textbook illustrations in junior middle school and take the current People’s education edition middle school Chinese textbook(six books) as an example,classify the textbook illustrations and List the vital function of textbook illustrations. In the second part of the article, this study used the survey method to analysis some existing problems in using the junior middle school Chinese textbooks illustrations and analysis of reasons. Pointed out that the Chinese teachers ignore the textbook illustrations,their teaching concept is not correct and pay more attention on multimedia teaching and so on,it also list out the erros of the Chinese textbooks illustrations.In the third part,aim at the problems of illustration teaching, the author gave some advices to improve teachers’ own literacy and how to use the textbook illustrations and direct students to use the textbook illustrations.
