The Research Of Counselors’ Training Of Colleges And Universities In Guangxi

Counselors in colleges and universities are a significant part of university teachers, and also the fundamental guarantee for the realization of college education. The team construction of counselors in colleges and universities is related to the development of university education, and whether the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics has qualified successors. Therefore, it is of great necessity to strengthen the training and cultivation of counselors in colleges and universities, which is an embodiment of intensifying ideological and political education work in colleges and universities, and also an important way to reinforce the team construction of ideological and political education in colleges and universities.Since the proposition put forward clearly in 2004 that team construction of counselors in colleges and universities should be strengthened in the On Further Strengthening and Improving Ideological and Political Education for College Students by CPC Central Committee and the State Council (No.[2004] 16 by CPC Central Committee), corresponding policies and documents have been issued by the state government every year or two years to support colleges and universities to take measures to strengthen the team construction of counselors, which led the team training of counselors to an unprecedented importance and development. The reinforcement of the training of counselors in colleges and universities is an important approach to realize the overall education goal of the nation, and the fundamental guarantee for the construction of a strong team of ideological and political education. Moreover, based on the current situation of counselors in colleges and universities of Guangxi, the training is also an important way to improve the overall quality of counselors, and an important measure suitable for college education in the new period. It also has important practical significance to study on the training of counselors in colleges and universities of Guangxi.To understand the basic situation of the training of counselors in colleges and universities of Guangxi, the author has visited the training and research base of the Ministry of Education for counselors in colleges and universities (Guangxi Normal University), and carried out a general survey in some colleges and universities of Guangxi by means of questionnaires. In addition, a more in-depth understanding of the real situation has been reached after compiling an interview outline of the situation of college counselor training based on the deficient information obtained from the questionnaires, and undergoing one-to-one interviews for counselors and relevant management personnel. After analyzing and reorganizing the investigation, the author has summed up some experience worthwhile to be popularized, and found out the outstanding problems existing in the training. These main problems are as follows:Inadequate training of high-level scale, yet not normalized of university training, lack of enough training teachers and facilities, inconsistency of content and requirements, Single centralized training mode, and relatively lagging training network platform construction. The reasons for such problems are both subjective and also objective, which mainly are:inadequate understanding of the importance of the training by some colleges and counselors, not a sound training security mechanism, and complex targets for training.After chasing down the reasons, by consulting newspapers and periodicals and other documents, the author studies the experiences and characteristics of training of college counselors in western developed countries and domestic developed areas. Through referring to and drawing on the useful experience in these areas, and combining with the local reality, the author puts forward some concrete measures for strengthening and improving the training of counselors in colleges and universities of Guangxi. From the author’s point of view, firstly, it should be made clear that the basic goal of the training is to develop the expert-type and the technology-type of counselors who acquire overall qualities and multi-skills. For the smooth realization of this objective, the principles of integrity, diversity and practicability should be abided by when carrying out corresponding work; secondly, to strengthen safeguard mechanism of the training, special efforts should be made in such aspects as the policies and regulations, management systems, fund inputs and so on; lastly, a perfect training system should be built. To construct a perfect training system, the author regards that efforts should be made in the following aspects:expansion of training scope and coverage, enhancement of training teachers and facilities,scientific design of training courses, flexible and diverse training methods.Finally, the author makes a brief review on the deficiencies of the content and the research, and gives a prospect for the future development of the training of counselors in colleges and universities of Guangxi.
