In the 80′s of last century. American famous psychologists Gardiner put forward the "theory of multiple intelligences", which changed the people’s traditional education idea, it no longer measure a persons′ intelligence level,with the language and intelligences as the core. Educators start focusing on the development of students, not engage in “on size fits all” education.At present, a lot of ordinary high is paying more and more attention to art students,the number of an students who take part in the college entrance examination.Art students occupy a certain advantage in the “visual/spatial intelligence”,mental traits tend to art,but they generally have problems of the weakness in culture,especially in the comprehensive discipline –liberal arts and their performance in geography is poor, and the geographic literacy is low,All of these seriously influence the art major students and their professional skills to play, affect the art students to pursue advanced studies in universities,and even affect the art students′ future career in art.the author′s school-National Middle school,from the beginning of 2007,with the spirit of” people-oriented,creating characteristic, advanced idea of running school all-round development”, vigorously carry out the music ﹑ sport and art education, and promote the comprehensive development of quality education besides the basic education. Based on the art students in three grades the investigation of geography teachers and the interview of individual students,reading the literature at home and abroad,combined with the author′ s,own teaching experience,the author explores the students geography well. The problem has long been puzzled the students, the author engaged in art students′ s geography teaching work for many years, So carrying this burden is the author′ s unthinkable responsibility.This paper discusses systematically, the first is to study the problem oflearning geography for the high school art students. It shows that there are many problems for the students.For example,the learning objectives is not clear, the learning interest is not strong enough,lacking of learning time,the learning method is not appropriate. The second one is to ask questions without end, the reason is mainly because the geography students themselves are weak. And also because of the lacking of learning self-confidence, and there is not pertinence using textbooks for the students. For teachers, they didn’t teach students in accordance with their aptitude in teaching procedure.The last one is to suit the remedy to the case. For students, that is to propose strategies of solving problems, we should give full play to the geography discipline glamour, let students clear learning geography goal; but also teach students in accordance with their aptitude, change teaching methods, improve the efficiency of the classroom, to stimulate students’ interest in learning geography; the role of school education management functions, incentive research group study of school-based teaching materials,strict school management art students, the implementation of the accountability system.The study of art students in learning geography problems existing and countermeasures study, for the fine arts special students to grasp more knowledge of geography and geographical skills and improve the comprehensive geographic literacy suggestions, hope to graduate education for the rapid development of our country’s expertise, provide art talent accomplishment is higher for the socialist economic construction, to contribute their humble.
