Reading is an important part of Chinese language teaching. The extracurricular reading is the expansion and extension of Chinese teaching, which can not only enrich the students’ knowledge, broaden their horizons, but also can develop their potential, cultivate their sentiments, enhance their taste, and is the important way to implement quality education. So with the development of science and technology, the progress of society, gradually the accelerated pace of the new curriculum reform, the extracurricular reading is gradually being valued by the whole society. Well, now the rural middle school students extracurricular reading of the situation would be?I make use of my own advantages and the conditions of my own teaching practice by carrying out a survey of a rural junior middle school students’extracurricular reading in Qinggang County. The study found that, in the rural junior middle school with incomplete cultural facilities, the state of the students’ extracurricular reading is not optimistic. For example, the interest of students’the extracurricular reading is not strong enough. They lack of reading time and their reading efficiency is low. Reading facilities are not complete. They can not develop good reading habits and their parents, teachers and education departments do not pay enough attention, and then their adverse supervision. Under the examination oriented education, the students often read with the utilitarian, etc. In order to change the distress situation, all aspects of support are needed, including the support of teachers, parents and the school.This thesis is divided into four parts:the first part is the introduction, which includes: the definition of the concept, selection cause and meaning, research content and purpose, literature review and research ideas and methods, and all of these provide a precondition for the research of this paper. The second part, through my own practical experience and the method of questionnaire, investigation on the situation of extracurricular reading in the rural junior middle school is done to find out the existing problems. The third part is the analysis of the investigation results for the present situation of rural middle school students’ extracurricular reading. The four part is on the basis of the above analysis, and to put forward some effective measures to improve the situation of rural junior middle school students’ reading in Qinggang County.Through this study, we hope that extracurricular reading can cause the extensive concern of society, also call on relevant leaders and teachers together to make joint efforts with parents, to provide a good environment for the students to read and to open up the new situation of rural extracurricular reading, but also to lay a strong foundation for the realization of quality education.
