The new curriculum reform is mainly student-centered. But currently the traditional teaching method is still prevalent in high school math class. Driven by exam-oriented education or high ratio of college entrance, the teachers in some high schools simply teach, spoon- feeding knowledge to students, not taking students ’ perspective into account, ignoring students’ perception, subjectivity in the teaching process. Some schools, on the other hand, have conducted the classroom teaching reform, foc using on students’ potential and initiative under the guidance of learning plan. But this reform, to a large degree, fails to combine the stratified-teaching with the learning under the guidance of learning plan. The thesis, making a combination of both t he stratified-teaching and the learning under the guidance of learning plan, aims to explore the effectiveness of stratified-teaching and its impact on senior high school students’ mathematics achievement, ability, habits, learning interest etc. The research method includes literature analysis, investigation, teaching experiment, case analysis. The thesis firstly reviews the achievements on the stratified-teaching and the learning under the guidance of learning plan at home and abroad before putting forward the conception of the stratified-teaching in the mode of the learning under the guidance of learning plan. Secondly it establishes the stratified-teaching strategy, the strategy for learning project, the stratified-teaching mode under the guidance of learning plan. Next comes the questionnaire on the students’ interest in mathematics, learning ability and learning habits in the experimental class, mathematics pre-test in both the experimental class and control class, and the mathematics stratified-teaching experiment conducted in the experimental class under the guidance of learning plan. Based on the comparison of pretest and posttest results between the experimental class and control class, the analysis of questionnaire survey, and case analysis, the conclusion reveals that the stratified-teaching in senior high school in the mode of the learning under the guidance of learning plan is conductive to the improvement of students’ learning interest, ability, habits and performance, as well as the improvement of the teachers’ academic level. The research also leads to the reflections as follows: weakness for universality for the research resulting from the small-scale experiment, difficulty in defining the standard of stratification among students, sometimes with subjectivity, and the need for further study on effectiveness of stratification in respect of learning goal, classroom communication.
