History is a subject which is highly explanative and inductive. It could be found fro m the past University Entrance Exams that the number of questions has increased, while t he flexibility and difficulty have also proportionally increased. The University Entrance Exam changed the test form from a knowledge-oriented form (using questions and answe rs of textbooks) into ability-oriented form (searching answers only), further requiring the historical awareness and cultivation of students.In the process of changing test form, original teaching method could not satisfy the new achievement based on the new trend. The teaching method-Role Play is an effectiv e way to motivate students to participate in. Through setting a particular historical backgr ound and a certain character, students are able to set themselves in the real story while lea rning. This could not only enhance their participation and interaction, but also their under standing of knowledge.The whole essay is divided into five sections. In introduction, the writer outlines the importance of this topic, the current status, and the experiment taken during the writing p rocess.In the part-Role Play Teaching Method and Theory, the writer mainly defines the c oncept of role play, and introduces relevant theory and characteristics.In the part-Investigation of Role Play Teaching Method Applied in High School Hi story Teaching, the writer did a research on teachers and students separately, in order to fi gure out the level of applying this teaching method and the problems existing in teaching history.In the part-Practice of Role Play Teaching Method, the writer divided two classes i nto experimental and non-experimental, with subjects from two Year 10 classes where th e writer got internship in 2014. And compared these two classes by applying different tea ching method. Therefore, the writer collects, analyzes, criticize the experimental data, an d finds out the impact that role play had on history teaching.In the part-Thinking about the Application of Role Play in Practice, the writer mak es an outline and explanation, and does a research on the functions, applied strategy and problems in teaching history.
