Chinese teaching has experienced the great development and reform since the Chinese language was established as an independent subject in the early 20 th century. Compared with the reading teaching and writing teaching, the oral teaching used to develop later and slower. But the oral teaching research is paid more and more attention to in the new century. This article mainly focuses on the research of the oral teaching evolution in the 20 th century. The development of Chinese course standard to some extent reflects the amount of attention paid on the oral teaching, it is a valuable reference to research the history of the oral teaching. During the oral teaching development, both of Chinese movement and vernacular movement have an important impact on it. Also the lost of the genres of oral teaching plays a great influence on the oral teaching development, which is the problem we have to think about. This article divides the history of oral teaching into three stages including compilation of textbooks, training methods and evaluation system. Then this article summarizes the oral teaching development from those three aspects. At last, after analyzing the current situation of oral teaching, this paper ponders the prospect of the oral teaching development.
