This research has tried to combine learning guide with layer learning effectively. In the context of learning guide, this paper has explored the layer learning plan which observes the principle of suiting the teaching to the ability of the students. During the process of learning guide, the front-line teachers are also involved in designing and implementing the teaching plan as well as managing and evaluating the classroom teaching.Through the method of literature research, this paper has first defined the core concepts such as teaching plan, learning plan, layered learning and learning guide. Hence, this research has proposed the layered learning plan accordingly. After determining the theoretical foundation, this paper has also elaborated on the current situation, development tendency and existing flaw of the existing studies on learning guide both at home and abroad. In addition, this paper has designed the framework of layered learning plan comprising the goal orientation, autonomous learning, before-class self-testing, mutual assistance, class presentation, teacher instruction, classroom review and exercise test. Each component of the design has been explained in detail. Combined with the feature of new instruction, review class and experimental class, this paper has also analyzed the application of layered learning plan to teaching practice in the form of case study. With the two classes (class 105 and class 107) in the first grade of the school where the author currently interns chosen for comparative study, this paper has adopted the behavior research. To be more specific, the class 105 is selected as the experimental class where the layered learning plan is carried out. The class 107 is chosen as the control group where the ordinary teaching mode is used. The data regarding the test score obtained by the two classes in the three exams organized by the school at the same time have been collected. The data obtained has been processed and analyzed. As shown in the result, there is a significant difference (P<0.05) between the two classes in terms of the second monthly exam and final exam. According to the analysis on the changed performance of those students in the three exams, it is found that the layered learning plan can greatly improve the test score of those students with relatively poor performance. The questionnaire has been also conducted among those students in the experimental class so as to study the change of the learning interest, attitude, self-study, learning mode and self-efficacy in studying the biology. The research result has indicated an improvement of each index.Therefore, it can be concluded that the layered learning plan has several advantages over traditional teaching.(1)It can improve the exam performance, especially for those students with a low test score.(2)It can motivate the students’interest in studying biology.(3)It can change the learning mode and improve the ability of cooperative study.(4)It can enhance the self-efficacy of those students in studying biology.The innovative point of this research lies in the fact that it can optimize the design and teaching of learning guide. It can also suit a learning plan to the needs of those students at all levels against the background of big-class teaching. Without having to design learning plan suitable for different students, those teachers will be further relieved from the heavy work load.
