Chinese education has played a significant role in the growth and development of young students. That’s why the general goal of the new curriculum of Chinese was proposed on basis of our human lifelong demands and the basic Chinese accomplishments required by harmonious development.However, in the general context of the current exam-orientated education,“utilitarian Chinese”is prosperous and popular; teachers always tend to improve the students’ academic performance through intensive training.Gradually, Chinese is losing its humanity, much less to exert positive influence upon the students’ emotions, moralities, or wills etc.The textbooks of high school Chinese cover a wide range of tragedy works which has always been highly admired and respected as the highest form of art. In our teaching, besides paying attention to the aesthetic education function of the tragedy works, more importantly, we must not ignore their heart-shaking power on the students. On basis of categorizing &summarizing and interpreting the tragedy works, this paper strives to explore a new and practically feasible teaching method which can not only live up to the requirements of the new curriculum standards, but also meet the demands of students’ development. Thereby we can conclude and interpret the tragedy works on basis of understanding them within a aesthetic category, and gainoverall grasp of the tragedy works in the process of teaching design, to further adapt proper teaching method according to different types of works, whose ultimate goal is to exert an imperceptible positive influence on the modeling of the students’ characters, by helping them gain a deep understanding on the thoughts & emotions and meanings & implications of the tragedy works,understand the authors’ sense of tragedy, identify and absorb the wonderful qualities of the heroes.
