Through literature review, the paper finds out that most researches focus on disaster education and only a few literatures have mentioned statements about local disaster education, regional disaster education etc. However, disaster education of high school geography should highlight education about disasters in the region where the students live, which better reflects the new geography curriculum standard of “to learn geography that is useful to life”.Secondly, the lack of curriculum resources is the biggest problem for regional disaster education. By investigating and analyzing the current situation of regional disaster education of high school geography in Nanning City, the paper concludes that the current regional disaster education of high school geography in Nanning City has the following three problems. Firstly, students’ awareness of regional natural disaster is weak and their attainment of disaster prevention and reduction remains to be improved. Secondly, due to the lack of curriculum resources about regional disaster education, geography classroom teaching is hard to be penetrated. Thirdly, because of the absence of practical activities about regional disaster education, it is hard for students to experience it in practice.Thirdly, the key to break through those problems lies in the development of school-based curriculum. The paper comes up with the following strategies to cope with the three main problems reflected by the survey. First of all, develop school-based curriculum about regional disaster education. Secondly, carry out practical activities about regional disaster teaching.Thirdly, penetrate regional disaster education into geography classroom teaching.Fourthly, basic courses and activity curriculum should be combined. As for the learning of corresponding basic courses, organize and carry out practical activities about educational technology of disasters in Nanning City so that students can acquire more practical experience on the basis of perceptual knowledge and eventually get a sublimation of emotion, attitude and value so as to achieve the goal of regional disaster education.Since most disaster education currently carried out in China is a mere formality, which makes it difficult to cultivate students’ attainment of disaster prevention and reduction, thus thepaper hopes to provide some help in implementing regional disaster education of high school geography in Nanning City and enriching curriculum resources for it by developing relevant school-based curriculum for regional disaster education.
