The Chinese textbook for elementary school students, the Kaiming Chinese Textbook, written by the famous educator Mr. Ye Shengtao and inset by the eminent cartoonist Mr. Feng Zikai, was published in 1932. Now, the ancient textbook reappearances and becomes popular again, which has been attached more importance. Based on the Kaiming Chinese Textbook published in Kaiming Bookstore in 2011, this thesis discussed the reason of the population of textbook in Republic of China, researched the selected and layouted of the texts, and analyzed its realistic value and the weakness in its period.Firstly,the thesis gived a brief introduction on background and compiling concept of Mr. Ye Shengtao, considering that it is the cultural-ideological enlightenment by May 4th Movement and the foreign education idea that made it come into being. Combining with instructions of Mr. Ye Shengtao, the author generalized the written ideas about lives, interesting, useful, summing up the written target of cultivating children’s spiritual and comprehensive ability in many aspects.Later, based on the version in Kaiming Bookstoe, the thesis analyzed the construction and content of Kaiming Chinese Textbook, and thought the figures are as follows:overall arrangement of the unit, sequential arrangement of life, image-text arrangement of intuition, classical binding arrangement, auxiliary practice arrangement in the construction that the arrangement characteristics have great originality. It include general knowledge, story, practical writing, children’s songs, giving students a colorful word.Then, this thesis explored the realistic value of Kaiming Chinese Textbook, considering it contained the written ideas about child-orientation and child-perapection, which was in favor of the writing and reference of primary school Chinese textbooks. And it also assist teachers in reading, writing and oral communication teaching.Taking today’s Chinese teaching situation, the thesis made a further exploration on transformation of education, discovering the successful trial on school-based courses development and regional textbook reformation. As the Kaiming Chinese Textbook has the weakness of superficial, language style singleness, lacking of classic and so on, so it can not replace the current teaching material in detail.
