Medicine, as a subject mainly concerning with human beings, aims at preventionand treatment of human physical and mental diseases and it has experienced aprocession of revolutions with the development of human society, which demonstratesin the changes of medical models. In recent years, the model centered on“environment, society, psychology, engineering and biology” has evolved, whichrequires doctors to take psychology, social environment, background and other factorsin relation to the patients into consideration in clinical treatment. In consequence, itproposes higher demand of the medical education. While imparting medicalknowledge, the medical education, through promoting medical students’ humanisticquality, applies natural science to research on medical problems and furthermore italso needs to apply social science and the humanities to settle medical problems,health service, etc.Objective:Faced with the progress and revolution of society, great changes in medicalmodels, a national premium on undergraduates’ humanistic quality and the intensedoctor-patient relationship, doctors and medical students are now required a higherstandard of humanistic quality. But, there exists many problems as to humanisticquality education of medical colleges and universities such as caring too much ofscience education but ignoring the humanities; the style and methods applied inhumanistic quality education lack diversity; and campus culture activities are culturaldisconnected.This research studies the appraisal of humanistic quality education course offeredby the undergraduates of a medical college to learn the application-oriented talents’level of humanistic quality. Taking Shenyang Medical College for instance theresearch revealed the problems of humanistic quality education in China and provide some effective measures to improve humanistic quality education and humanisticquality of medical students.Subject and Methods:Based on750medical students in Shenyang Medical College who major inclinical medicine, prophylactic medicine, stomatology, nursing, medical imageology,anesthesiology and medical laboratory science, this research investigated the medicalstudents’ humanistic quality and humanistic quality education in Shenyang MedicalCollege. According to different grades and subjects, the research analyzed medicalstudents’ humanistic quality and their views of humanistic quality education. Anddocumentary method, comparison method, investigation and research method, etc. areemployed in this research.Results:The evaluation of humanistic quality education and the humanistic quality ofmedical students is not very positive. However, medical students are eager to improvetheir own humanistic quality and have strong desire to improve the humanistic qualityeducation of medical college.Conclusion:On the subject of the problems of humanistic quality education in medical colleges,we advance a “vertically intensive, horizontally extensive, curriculum-permeated andpractice-oriented” humanistic education program:1. In the “vertical” direction,humanistic quality education leading groups are expected to be established and greatimportance should be attached to humanistic quality education; the quality of teachersis expected to be enhanced and the force of the staff should be strengthened; morecultural activities are expected to be implemented and a good campus culturalatmosphere should be created.2. In the “horizontal” direction, the humanistic qualityeducation is expected to be integrated into college principles and regulations and thehardware should be enhanced so that to provide resource support for the humanisticquality education.3. In terms of curriculum permeation, the influence of professional teachers is expected to be exerted so that it makes the humanistic education programand professional curriculums inter-permeated. Besides, reasonable and practicalcurriculum program of humanistic quality education should be established, which istargeted at each grade.4. As to practice-orientation, great importance is expected tobe attached to the humanistic quality practice education and the participation ofmedical students should be encouraged. Consequently, the status of medicalhumanistic quality education and the humanistic quality of medical students will beessentially improved...
