At the stage of middle school and secondary school in our country, our teachingappears obvious fault due to the unbalanced development students, the lacking ofcommunication between teachers and the improper between teaching materials. Biologysubject also has that problem. Educators have to put their effort to bridge the gap betweenmiddle school and secondary. It is an important approach to improve the convergence ofthe textbooks. As the book is an important media for teachers to impart knowledge to thestudents.American science education standard has the highest position in the world, so wewould like to study their teaching materials. We could find the advantage and thetransition strategies of them. We could apply these strategies consciously to the biologicaleducation of our country. It is contribute to find the deficiency in convergence of ourtextbooks from middle school to secondary school and then improve them. This couldmake our teaching material more convergences. At the same time, it is helpful for thestudents to study in a higher education.This research uses the literature method to understand how to study the convergenceof biology textbooks and the current progress in this field. Then, I studied the designconcept and content standards of the “National Science Education Standards” from grade5to grade12. I also studied the whole and the part of biological teaching materials toanalyze their cohesion. I found the design concept and content standards of the “NationalScience Education Standards” have obvious convergence. In the biological teachingmaterials, they divided the knowledge into three parts: progressive knowledge,complementary knowledge and other disciplines of knowledge. From the textbook columnarrangement point of view, the textbooks add some column arrangement to make thestudents understand more fluently. In other hand, I make an analysis to find what has beenwrong with our teaching from teacher and teaching materials. Such as make aquestionnaire. Finally, I discovered that our teacher has little awareness to teach thestudents more wide and our textbooks also have their convergence problems. I do realizethe convergence problems of our textbooks could be bridged by American biologicalteaching materials. The creativity of this paper is that the author choose the American biological teachingmaterials which produced by The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. to analyze. At the sametime, the author discovered that the advantage of the textbooks`cohesion and want tocombine their advantages with our teaching materials.
