Effective teaching is referred to the practice of teachers who successfully cause, maintainand promote students’ learning. The practice includes teaching materials, methods and thewhole teaching process. Effective teaching has regularity, effectiveness and efficiency as itsbasic characters. The opposite of effective teaching usually means violation of the law,ineffectiveness and low-efficiency in teaching. From the remote start of the teaching practice,the input and the output involved in teaching are always attracting much attention. Effectiveteaching has long been a topic of education research. Effective teaching is the core of themodern teaching idea. Its profound thought and rich theory guide the modern teachingpractice, including the teaching and studying in junior high middle schools.The implementation of the new curriculum standards marks the beginning of the new eraof our country’s elementary education reform. It is a comprehensive and systematicinterpretation of the necessities and the feasibility to promote effective teaching in thebackground of the new history and modern society. It also draws a guideline to the modernteaching reform. The main aspects of the new curriculum standards are: setting up reasonablecurriculum structure, updating the contents of the courses, emphasizing the development ofthe students, scientifically formulating the curriculum standards, strengthening the pertinenceand actual effect of ideological and moral education, focusing on the cultivation theinnovation spirit and practice ability of the students, establishing the new teaching way,establishing the evaluation system to promote the development of students and theimprovement of teachers, improving the adaptability of the course to meet the needs ofdifferent places, schools and students. Particularly, it requires junior high schools to diversifyand grade their courses and to improve the structure and the selectivity of the courses.To implement the idea of the new curriculum standards and the ideology of effectiveteaching, it is necessary to carefully analyze all main aspects of mathematics teaching injunior high schools. Sequence as an important knowledge closely associated with othervarious knowledge, such as with function, equation, inequality, etc. Those combine togetherto form the knowledge system of junior high school mathematics. Sequence, on the otherhand, can cultivate the observation of students, the ability to analyze and solve problems.Moreover, sequence had a tight contact with real life and is of rich historical origin. These aspects reflect the features of sequence. In this paper we treat sequence as handle to deal witheffective teaching of junior high school mathematics.The research of this paper includes discussing of education theory and the survey ofcurrent state of the teaching in some schools. We try to systematically figure out what is thereal effective teaching in modern to education, and how to use the policy and methods. I wishthat this research would be a meaningful reference to middle school teachers.
