Under the circumstances of exam-oriented education, the students’motivation of learning geography is declining. Especially, geography always regarded as a minor subject in school. The effective of learning geography is relatively low, due to students don’t show much interest in it or value that subject. In order to stimulate students’learning motivation and transform their idea of studying geograpy. J.M. Keller, psychology professor from south Florida of America, who put forward ARCS motivation mode.The mode aims to improve the application of mitivation, and it’s made up of four elements of English ininials. That follows:Attention-A, Relevance-R, confidence-C, Satisfaction-S.The ARCS motivation based on the inspiration of student’s attention, is proposed to build a link between students and their knowledge then they can get a sense of satisfaction to some extent from appropriate practices.Based on the sorting of ARCS motivation together with analysis of current geographical teaching using questionnair survey through the experiment before the test. After analysis the data of test before experiment, we setting out the strategy that will stimulate the motivation of geographic study of high school students and later carried it out. The use of empirical research conducted for a period of two classes a semester teaching experiment, after the end of the experiment, again two classes geographic motivation level measurements. Measurement results show that the experimental class posttest geography motivation levels were significantly higher than pre-test scores, but no significant change in the control classes. From the experimental point of view the implementation process, the experimental design is more reasonable and workable stronger.Research shows that high school geography motivation to develop a questionnaire is feasible, there is a certain degree of reliability and validity, ARCS model of motivation in high school geography teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning geography largely on secondary there are some inspiration geography teaching and facilitating role.
