Nation’s educational department clearly propose to construct China modernuniversity system in several documents.The inclination of this strategy is toimprove the quality of higher education,including two main aspects: prosperousacademia and the proliferation of cutting-edge talents. It denotes that to build upChina modern university system is to recall the main body status of universities.and then, accomplishing these objectives requires universities must embody itsessence when dealing with the relationship of inner and outer relatives, foruniversity is the place where people can research, innovate and transmit grandknowledge. In the light of this statement, what university requires is academicessence. And the two main characteristics of the recalling of the core status ofuniversity are organization and person.And this is the first step for people to analyze the logic of higher education.Consequently, constructing China modern university system is to foster thelegalization of the status of university main body. Hushih is the scholar just likemost scholars who are selected to go abroad for a further study. And they whollyexperienced the atmosphere of occidental modern university systems. And mostimportantly,they have a strong mission that to make china have a brighter andadvanced higher education. Of course, they transplant this kind of system into ourown land. and meanwhile they attain great importance to the difference betweenthese two cultures. And in the end, the embryonic form of china modern universitysystem gradually comes into shape.But unfortunately, it is destroyed in the future days. So,nowadays,whenpeople are exploiting the method of building modern university system in Chinesestyle, we certainly don’t hesitate to look back on the emergence of china modernhigher education and even those brilliant higher educational thinkers, summarizingtheir pactice and then deciphering educational ideals of these pioneers. Hushih hadpassed away for more than fifty years, but when people are reading his words,theycan naturally attain a strong liveness.How admirable he is,and because of this,theauthor attempts to evacuate his higher educational thoughts and deduce from hisconcrete practice in this sphere in order to achieve some beneficial enlightenmentof the construction of China modern university system.And the following are the principal parts of this thesis.In the first part,the author strives to analyse the reason of the formation of histhoughts.And concluding by study that his educational ideals and achievements areprofited from three phases:9-year elementary training of traditional Chineseeducation in his hometown,6-year study in new-style school in shanghai and7-yearoverseas education in America.In the second part, the author tries to induce his thoughts from twoperspectives: organization and person, by collecting his corpus diaries,lettersindividual cases and existed research achievements and analyse them in detail.Inthis way,we deduce four main higher educational ideals of Hushih:universityautonomy and academic freedom, professor-oriented governance model,the methodof studing advanced knowledge and scientific research.And then,we compare histhoughts and practice with the shortcomings in current higher education system,andeventually get some useful ideas.Third part discusses the relationship between Hushih and modern universitysystem.And from this point of view,the author explained why should we need tofind answer from Mr Hu.And,in the end,the author summarizes some flaws aboutcurrent university system.In the fourth part,the author mainly expound four enlightenments for theconstruction of China modern university system deducing from Hushih:appropriately dealing with the relationship among university,market andgovernment;interest-oriented curriculum system;building up scientific evaluationsystem about academics and polishing the inner governance structure ofuniversities.In epilogue part,including three aspects:firstly,the author try to sum up Hushihfrom his whole life perspective and then just stressly analyse four important phasesin his higher education period. Secondly, we briefly state the current value of hiscontribution.And lastly,the author simply tells people some personal attainment inthe process of this research and most importantly,putting forward some defectsabout this dissertation.
